Japan is a racist country

This is what I wrote on my CS profile :

Here let me tell it to you simply : Japanese are racist. But, unlike in other countries where racism is a product of a conscious effort, as my husband says (who is 100% Japanese), " we Japanese don't really know when we are being racist." If you want to talk/debate about this, I invite you for a drink (Tuesday and Friday nights only.. lol)

Japan is probably as racist as the Philippines, the US, the UK, where the white people (and other citizens of the "inner circle") live in the easy street. For a fact, I will always be subtly or openly discriminated against by virtue of my race, gender, age or religion or by a combination of any of those. I am always pigeon-holed with those who lack education, who can barely spell to save their lives, those in the skin trade, those married to men triple their age.. all because of the color of my passport (Is it a coincidence that almost everybody is curious about the age of my husband?). No one can change this or claim otherwise. I have loads of experience stacked up against the contrary. The Japanese regard other Asians as inferior to them and white people as superior to them. This is how it was and it will be. If you are Japanese and you feel that you are not like that at all, then I salute you. But as for me - I cannot be a victim of my surroundings or of how people perceive me. I choose to make my own reality and make the best of every moment that I am here. The best thing to do is accept this reality, see the silver lining and move on with my life. Life is beautiful. Good vibes beget good vibes. Think positive. Love. And know that, whatever happens, you are loved. And in the end, it is all that matters : love.

Cheesy? Why would I write something like that on my cs page? Because it is the truth - my truth - based on my own experience.. Come on, you really can't imagine asking a white male about how Japan is treating him?! The world is his oyster, the girls his for the taking.

Taj Mahal by Jorge Ben Jor

I can't believe he's 70! I love Jorge Ben Jor's music even though I don't speak Portuguese. Here is a video I made dedicated to ORG with Taj Mahal.

Unfortunately due to copyright claims, it is not available worldwide as it is blocked in some countries.

Dating an Asian chick?

In the kitchen here in JP, I frequently find myself the minority : female and married to Japanese. Most females work in the hall - you've probably seen them if you've eaten in at least one Tokyo restaurant.. you know those girls in the restaurant who look nice, saying "Irrashaimase!" in high-pitched voices. Being in the kitchen, most of my workmates, if not all of them, are males - Japanese males, foreign males and half-Japanese. So I get to hear most of the time about the male talk about what men like to talk about the most : women. Those newly arrived from the west can't believe how 'mote-mote' they are around Japanese (and other Asian) girls. Suddenly, all these hot shibuya girls are falling all over them, beckoning to them with smiles. Suddenly, Roppongi is not possible without being taken home by some hot japanese (or other asian) lady with plunging necklines and mini skirts (when it's 6 Degrees outside, that's a feat). The next day I see them coming to the kitchen straight from Roppongi smelling of bars, eyes heavy with sleep, clutching their phones, waiting for that text. It's a way for Asian girls to test foreign waters, to experience romance western style, to be treated like a princess , or maybe just to practice English for free. A lot of white males actually get their ego boost in this country, heck even those who were considered LOSERS in their native lands. I mean even the ugliest m*therf*ck* -pardon my french - gets his piece of Asian chick. (What are these girls thinking?!)

These are several things to consider when dating (and eventually getting serious) with Asian chicks:

Tokyo Craigslist > Jobs

I found my other job through Tokyo craigslist (google), the second job I found through the same site. Unfortunately many people are not so lucky. I  tend to be really doubtful of restaurants / establishments posting an ad every couple of months. Why? They can be scammers, wanting nothing but your information, or if they are legit, it means that the turnover is so fast(bad sign). Among those posting regularly are the following :

Dreams

I had a weird ass dream last night where I pissed off some local gangsters. They didn't want to kill me, but they didn't want me around so they decided to exile me to Azerbaijan for five years. Without a warning, they dropped by with a plane ticket for that night's departure. I was crying my eyes out, begging them to let me stay, promising no more troubles. They said no. I asked them at last, "Why are you sending me to Azerbaijan, a Muslim country? Can't you at the very least exile me to a Christian country whose customs I understand?" They said, "Oh, don't fuss about it! Azerbaijan is surrounded by Puerto Rico on all sides, you can always go there!" Haha, right?

American Hospitality Academy Philippines : Why you can't make a worse choice

American Hospitality Academy : Why You Can't Make a Worse Choice

Last year, I decided to go back to Manila to take up culinary arts. The biggest question of course, is which school? Well, after talking to various schools over the phone, and looking over at the internet, I decided, very much to my regret later on, to put my money into American Hospitality Academy Philippines. This is one of the bad choices I have ever made in my life. I've kept silent until the day I got my Diploma, and of course, my refund. Now I am speaking up because other people deserve to know. Consider this the insider notes on AHA Philippines (Student April 2011-2012)
