Spirit’s Homecoming, a Korean movie about WWII comfort women
Staying at home and watching over my baby mean I have all the time to catch on TV. RED played Spirit’s Homecoming last Friday. It was about the terrible ordeal of the Korean comfort women or sex slaves during WWII.
The issue of comfort women is still controversial. I reposted an article about an experience of a Filipina comfort woman here. This isn’t something I would wish on even my worst enemy.
My ex husband, a Japanese guy my age, firmly believed they were prostitutes. Talk about white washing their crimes! Until now, Japan refuses to fully admit what they did. They seem to be convinced they did nothing wrong and want the world to believe that, although the majority of the evidence points otherwise. Movies like this are important, not to stir up hatred, but so prevent the past from repeating itself.
